What you do

Manage your realm on the campaign map, then command thousands of troops in real-time battles.

Who it suits

Strategy fans with time and a good PC. The add-ons can get expensive.

01The opening

You pick one of many wildly different factions and start a campaign. The first battle shows the scale: thousands of soldiers, giant monsters, magic.

02The midgame

Each faction plays differently, with its own mechanics. Campaigns grow into sprawling wars on a huge map.

03Where to stop

Stop at the end of a campaign turn. Plan for a number of turns, not hours.

Why it works

  • Enormous variety of factions
  • Spectacular battles
  • Deep campaigns

Watch out for

  • Many paid packs
  • Steep learning curve
